Waffles originated from Belgium but quickly became very popular worldwide, none more so than in America.

Are Vegan Waffles Healthy?

Normally waffles would not be considered healthy, this is mainly because they are made with plain floor, milk & lots of sugar.

However, vegan waffles are conciderably more healthy than non vegan waffles.

The reason for this is vegan waffles are made with plain flour but also with wholemeal flour as a 50/50 mix, they also are not made with cow’s milk nor sugar, as a sweetener we use maple syrup in this recipe.

Notes

The amount of batter and cooking time will depend on your waffle maker. Be careful not to overfill the slots, as the batter will expand and fill the gaps.
You can enjoy these waffles with your toppings of choice: jam, syrup, frozen berries, or fruit.
It’s possible to make these vegan waffles gluten-free if you use all-purpose gluten-free flour and oat flour instead of the wheat flour.
